History & Literature of the Holocaust

Students will investigate history and literature before and after the Holocaust. Using various multimedia and primary and secondary sources, students will take a look into the lives of children, Semitic and anti-Semitic Germans, survivors of the concentration camps, and residents of the ghettos. Students will not only gain insight into a dark chapter of human history, but they will also learn valuable lessons about humanity as a whole.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\nWithin this course, you will be studying genocide and reflecting on the rise of Adolf Hitler, his regime, and the mass murder of millions. We will examine images, watch testimonies, read memoirs, listen to survivors speak, and analyze perpetrators and bystanders\u2019 statements to gain a deeper understanding and knowledge of this horrific time in history.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We will explore the not so simple answers to the difficult questions of how and why the Holocaust happened and the many complex perspectives within. We will also be investigating other genocides in history, analyzing how they happen, how other countries react, what justice looks like, and the after-effects of such events.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
